South Carolina real estate market - Myrtle Beach Real Estate
Is the South Carolina Real Estate Market affected when NJ, NY, PA, OH and other Northern States have extreme cold temperatures, snow and freezing rain?
“A bad Winter in the North, brings more Real Estate buyers in the Spring” if the saying is true, then the South Carolina Real Estate market should be very busy this Spring. I think just about everyone enjoys snow for the Holidays. While my kids watch the snowy weather in the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Ohio areas with open eyes dreaming of playing in the snow, Dad has other visions. Dad remembers plowing snow, no parking spaces, snow refreezing when the sun goes down and the sound a car motor makes trying to start on a cold morning. It’s almost like Christmas morning as you explain how affordable owning a primary residence or 2nd home not far from the beach can be in the Myrtle Beach area (Horry County SC). Many buyers are surprised to hear that the electric bills including heating and air conditioning cost for a year round resident on 3000+ sq ft home can be under $150 a month.  As a Myrtle Beach Realtor I enjoy sharing the SC tax rate with buyers from New Jersey. When I explain that a 3000+ sq ft home can pay $950 +/- a year in taxes for a primary resident many New Jersey buyers share the horror of their NJ tax rates. I must agree that I enjoy the smell of snow in the morning…. as long as I am in warm and sunny Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

Happy New Year!
