NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC  – North Myrtle Beach Beach Patrol officers and North Myrtle Beach Aquatic & Fitness Center are offering free lifeguard swim clinics for those wishing to be a North Myrtle Beach ocean lifeguard this summer.

Swim clinics will take place on the following dates. All clinics will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Aquatic & Fitness Center (1100 2nd Ave. S.):

    * March 6
    * March 13
    * March 20
    * March 27
    * April 3
    * April 10
    * April 18
    * April 24

Passing the swim test to become an ocean lifeguard takes skill, stamina and speed. Guards are required to swim 500 meters in 10 minutes or less.After completing the swim test, guards for North Myrtle Beach also must successfully complete a 44-hour Lifeguard Academy and receive certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
